This photo exhibition celebrates the art of henna by showing the beauty, complexity and diversity of this ancient art form, still so little known in spite of having been used to decorate the body for the past 8000 years, by numerous cultures across Europe, Africa and Asia. | |

This performance which explores body decoration and adornment, will investigate cultural notions of beauty. Seated in shop windows at the various downtown performance locations, Ms. Andrea Vander Kooij will painstakingly embroider a dress for herself in Jacobean Blackwork designs. The embroidery will mirror similar designs previously applied with henna by professional henna-artist Luma R. Brieuc, onto Andrea's own body. |
